If you're looking for detailed info on the use of the CASA System Sperm Class Analyzer, the examples in this tutorial are provided with videos and explanations to help the SCA® users.
All the words of the SCA® software and also the reports can be edited in the “Labels” section of the “Administration” menu. Editing the labels can be very useful to customize the program fields and/or translate the reports into a new language.
SCA® provides automatically a diagnosis of the sample. This option explains how to create a new diagnosis and configure the values for the different parameters.
SCA® provides automatically a recommended reproduction method from the results of the analysis. This option explains how to create a new reproduction method and configure the values for the different parameters.
It is possible to import patients into the SCA® database from an external file in “Excel” format. This option explains how to import the patients with a couple of clicks.
SCA® Sample Management allows to save the results of an analysis when it was performed manually instead of using an analysis module. With this option all the data and results of the sample will be saved in the same database.
An electronic scale can be connected to the SCA® system for volume calculation. It is not necessary to measure the volume, just place the sample on the scale and SCA® will read the volume.
SCA® allows to mark a sample as priority. Using this option, all samples marked as priority will appear in first position in the “Recent samples” panel.
SCA® offers the possibility to validate a sample. When a sample is validated, it will not be possible to modify any data or perform any analysis. When a sample is not validated yet, the reports will include the sentence “Not validated”. This option should be activated in the menu “Administration > Settings > Necessary to validate”.
Search a sample in the SCA® database. Different search parameters can be used, like CHN (Clinical History Number), Sample Reference, Date, Analyst or Center.
It is possible to delete individual analysis from the SCA® database. Search for an existing sample and click the “Delete” button. A new window will appear showing all the analysis of the sample, select the analysis you want to delete and click the “Delete analysis” button.
A window with a list of the recent samples appears on the right side of the SCA® Sample Management. This window allows to access quickly to the last samples that were analyzed: For example to recover the sample data, the patient data, view results, create a report or perform a new analysis.
SCA Evolution allows to add the referring doctor of the patient to the sample information. The doctor will also appear in the report with the patient information.
This option explains how to calibrate the microscope objectives of the SCA® system. The calibration process will create a new scale to use during the analysis.
This option explains how to calibrate the motorized stage of the SCA® system. The calibration process will set the coordinates to start a new analysis.
SCA® dataShare is the module that allows to share the SCA® database and import/export data automatically. This option explains how to configure the main options of the SCA® dataShare.
It is possible to clone an existing configuration of any SCA® Analysis Module. With this option a new configuration will be created with the same settings that the cloned configuration.
SCA® Analysis Modules allows to modify the settings of the configuration during the analysis. The analysis is updated automatically showing the results of the new configuration used.
Request technical support if you have any question problem with your SCA® system. An engineer of Microptic will do a remote connection to check the SCA® system.
SCA® allows to create sort groups for the study of a specific group of cells. This option explains how to create a new group and configure the different parameters.
SCA® Motility and concentration module allows to adjust manually the threshold in order to improve the detection of cells during the analysis. This option is recommended for samples with debris or very low concentration.
This option explains how to adjust the camera parameters in order to improve the image quality. All camera options availabe can be modified from the “Capture” window of the SCA® Analysis Modules.
It is possible to delete a captured field captured with SCA® Analysis Modules. This option is available clicking the “Delete field” button of the toolbar or selecting the desired field and clicking the option “Delete” of the “Field” menu.
SCA® provides an intelligent filter in motility and concentraion analysis module that filters and removes the cells, particles and debris that are not spermatozoa. This option is available clicking the “Intelligent filter” button of the toolbar.
SCA® Morphology module offers the option to analyze the tail of the spermatozoa, it is only possible when the high resolution camera and the 60x objective is used. This option explains how to configure SCA® to analyze the morphology of the tail.
SCA® system has the option to use a motorized stage for a fully automatic analysis. This option explains how to configure and use the motorized stage with the SCA® system.
Use the adaptative criteria for morphology analysis. The classification parameters of the sperm are automatically adjusted according to your personal criteria.
SCA® Analysis Modules has an advanced summarization tool that allows data selection for statistics purposes. This option explains how this tool can be used.
This tool allows the technicians to quickly validate the automatic analysis done by the SCA. This way, the borderline sperms may be reclassified if required in a short time, and the artifacts easily detected and deleted.
SCA® Analysis Modules has the option to save a session file with all the captured fields, the configuration used and the results of the analysis. The session can be recovered at any moment and allows to continue the analysis or do any modification in the configuration.
SCA® Analysis Modules has the option to save a session and send it automatically by e-mail. The session file will include all the captured fields, the configuration used and the results of the analysis.
SCA® Analysis Modules has the option to save a session to mySCA cloud space automatically. The session file will include all the captured fields, the configuration used and the results of the analysis.
This option explains how to open a session with any of the SCA® Analysis Modules, allowing to continue the analysis. The session file includes all the captured fields, the configuration used and the results of the analysis.
SCA® offers the possibility to export the results of an analysis to mySCA cloud space and allow to the patient to download the results from the website www.semenanalysis.net. The patient will have available for download the final report, the pictures and the sessions of the analysis.
SCA® reports includes pictures of the sample showing the analysis. This option explains how to configure the number and type of picture included in the report.
