SCA® Morphology

SCA® Morphology is a module that permits the automatic morphometry analysis and morphology classification of human stained sperm samples observed in brightfield microscopy.

This analysis module is also
available for Veterinary and Toxicology.

There are enormous variation in the sperm morphology, which make its assessment quite complex, but several studies have recovered spermatozoa from female reproductive tract, specially in postcoital endoncervical mucus, and from the surface of zona pellucida and have helped to define the appearance of potentially fertilizing, that is, morphologically normal, spermazoa in some species. (Medkveld et al,. 1991: Liu & Baker, 1992a)

SCA® Morphology main features

Automatic detection and analysis - SCA® Morphology

SCA® Morphology detects and analyses the spermatozoa automatically.

Complete analysis - SCA® Morphology

Simultaneously evaluates the dimensions of the acrosome, head, midpiece, tail and the presence of vacuoles.

Criteria selection - SCA® Morphology

Spermatozoa are recorded as normal or abnormal, following established criteria: W.H.O., Strict Kruger-Tygerberg, David modified, Adaptative or Customized.

Full automatic analysis - SCA® Morphology

Optionally, analysis with motorized stage and SCA® Stage controller is available, improving the capture velocity and making all the process automatic.

Multiple stains - SCA® Morphology

Several staining are compatible: Sperm Stain, SpermBlue, Diff-Quik, Papanicoulau, Shorr or Morphology slides SCA and SCA® contains the appropriate correction factors. *

Statistics - SCA® Morphology

SCA® Morphology is an effective and user-friendly tool for research, allowing the implementation of new terminology and estimations in sperm morphology.

* Morphometric dimensions of the human sperm head depend on the staining method used
