SPERM-HALOMAX®: THE EASY WAY TO MEASURE DNA FRAGMENTATION IN SPERM SAMPLES

The SPERM-HALOMAX® kit series from CHROMACELL SL bursts into the market as a pioneering product for the analysis of DNA fragmentation levels in spermatozoa both in domestic and experimental animals. SPERM-HALOMAX® is a simple test to study DNA fragmentation levels in spermatozoa. The method is a variant of the Sperm Chromatin Dispersion protocol currently employed in humans (SCD; Fernández et al., 2003. J. Androl. 24: 49-66). This new methodology provides a simple way to distinguish, even at low magnification, spermatozoa with and without fragmented DNA, giving high quality images both under fluorescence and light microscopy.

Species available: boar, bull, mouse, ram, goat, stallion and fish.

Figure. Sperm sample analyzed with SPERM-HALOMAX®. Images were obtained using a 40x objective under bright field microscopy (above) and using fluorescence microscopy after DNA In Situ Nick Translation (below).  Large halos of chromatin dispersion in both images correspond to sperm cells with fragmented DNA.

SCA-DNAF also availabe

SCA-DNAF: Specific software to analyze sperm DNA fragmentation. The software evaluates the sample automatically and produces detailed numerical results of DFI (DNA Fragmentation Index) according to the size of the halos.
