Equine semen\u00a0cryopreservation is a complementary technique to reproductive biotechnology processes.\u00a0However, only 40% of the horses produce semen that can be cryopreserved, with a high\u00a0variability in fertility. The reliability of the methods of semen evaluation is important to\u00a0determine their fertility potential, but the conventional analysis by microscopic evaluation has\u00a0not been very effective in this regard. Computer-assisted semen analysis (CASA) provides\u00a0an objective measurement of sperm motility. \nhorses of the Colombian creole breed (three ejaculates each) was frozen in extender (4%\u00a0egg yolk, 5% dimethylformamide). Thawed sperm motility was conventionally determined by\u00a0phase contrast microscopy and by SCA \u00ae software. For statistical analysis was fitted a\u00a0generalized linear model (GLM) and was determined the association between variables using\u00a0correlation and regression analysis. It was found an average of total motility of 54.3% \u00b1\u00a010.1 % and 61.8% \u00b1 13.9% for conventional and SCA\u00ae evaluation, respectively. No significant\u00a0difference was observed between analysis methods. We conclude that equine semen\u00a0analysis by conventional method and SCA\u00ae system is comparable to analyze the motility of\u00a0criopreserved equine semen.<\/p>\n
